August Adventure Gross-Lewin, CGC

Meet August Adventure Gross-Lewin, CGC – our office mascot and Therapy Dog! He loves meeting new people and making friends! He enjoys being touched, talked to, and getting petted. He loves to sit in laps, going on adventures, and he REALLY loves treats!

He’s so adorable, he looks like a living teddy bear. August helps patients feel less nervous when they come to the dental office. On top of being a very good boy and incredibly soft, he does not shed, and he’s hypoallergenic!

August knows over 100 words and commands and has started to learn how to use recorded sound buttons to communicate better with humans!

Here’s a list of credentials and recognitions he’s earned in his time as a Trained Service/Therapy Dog:

  • Obtained American Kennel Club’s Canine Good Citizen Certification in 2017
  • Trained in Public Access, Deep Pressure Therapy, Physical Mobility, and Minimal Protective Tasks – Alerts
  • AKC Canine Good Citizen- Nebraska Humane Society\’s youngest graduate in my Spring 2017 cohort
  • AKC Rally – Novice/Intermediate Level

When we asked him, he said that he loves being anywhere his mom and dad are! Being a Therapy Dog is much easier for him than working as a Service Dog because he is SO FRIENDLY! It was very hard for him to behave himself when he’s got his uniform (Service Dog Vest) on, so he especially likes being in the dental office because he’s allowed to be greeted by all the new people he meets who like dogs!
